History
Atlantic Education International Inc. (AEI) was created in 1997 by the province of New Brunswick to deliver world class education opportunities to the global community through the province’s Department of Education.
Atlantic Education International (AEI) was incorporated in 1997. At that time, New Brunswick was the first jurisdiction in the world to offer an international/Chinese education partnership. This included teaching the New Brunswick curriculum in five schools in China, a dual New Brunswick-Chinese High School Diploma to successful Chinese students, and the opportunity for Chinese students to spend a semester studying in the province.
This endeavour was made possible through a partnership agreement between the New Brunswick Department of Education and AKD International Inc. A leading education group in China, AKD was created in 1994.
In 2007, AEI started recruiting international students in Mexico, Colombia and Brazil and also began a partnership with The International School of Saint Lucia in the island country of the West Indies.
In 2009, AEI began negotiations with Bangladesh, and the Canadian Trillium School opened in Dhaka in 2010.
In 2011, AEI began developing a partnership with Colégio Santa Maria in Brazil.
